Job Title: In-House Chef – Café Shalom
Location: Shalom Backpackers, Rishikesh
Employment Type: Full-Time
About Us:
Shalom Backpackers is a vibrant backpackers hostel brand built to create meaningful experiences for travelers. Our in-house Café Shalom is designed to serve fresh, wholesome, and comforting meals to our guests—bringing together local flavors, continental favorites, and café-style bites.
We are looking for a passionate and creative In-House Chef who can lead the kitchen operations, design menus, and deliver consistent taste and quality to enhance the guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and cook a variety of dishes including Indian, Continental, and café-style meals (breakfast, quick bites, and beverages).
Develop and update menus based on traveler preferences, seasonal availability, and café standards.
Ensure high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in the kitchen.
Maintain inventory, monitor food costs, and coordinate purchases with vendors.
Supervise kitchen helpers/assistants and train them in food preparation and hygiene practices.
Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and portioning of all food items.
Introduce creative specials and local fusion dishes to attract hostel guests.
Handle guest feedback positively and adapt menus when required.
Ensure compliance with FSSAI and hostel brand standards.
Skills & Qualifications:
Proven work experience as a Chef / Cook, preferably in hostels, cafés, or boutique restaurants.
Strong knowledge of multi-cuisine cooking (Indian, Continental, café food).
Ability to manage kitchen operations independently.
Passion for food, creativity in menu planning, and attention to detail.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and cost control.
